Episode #17: Author, Writer and Public Speaker: Laura Vanderkam
Hi everybody! Very excited to share my conversation with my friend Laura Vanderkam – and special thanks to my older sister Mandy Hayden McConnell for connecting us! Laura currently lives right outside Philadelphia with her husband and four young children (10, 8, 6 and 3 ) – she is a super mom! Laura is the author of several time management and productivity books, including I Know How She Does It: How Successful Women Make The Most of Their Time, What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast and 168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think (all of Laura’s book are included in the show notes).
Her work has appeared in countless publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, USA Today, Reader’s Digest and so many more. Laura has appeared on numerous television programs, including The Today Show, Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, hundreds of radio segments and has spoken about time, money, and productivity to audiences of all sizes. She even did a TED talk that has 5.5 million views!! Laura also launched a podcast a few months ago, around the same time as me. It’s called “The Best of Both Worlds” where she and her co-host Sarah Hart-Unger (who is a physician) discuss work/life balance, career development, parenting, time management, productivity and making time for fun. She even had Gretchen Rubin as a guest who has written several NY Times Bestsellers! Definitely check it out – their episodes are awesome.
I absolutely loved Laura’s humbleness, her perseverance during setbacks and her passion for what she does – please enjoy.
